Biography and Credits
Katie Torpey is an award-winning WGA Screenwriter with an MFA from UCLA Film School who has worked in television and film for numerous studios and networks including FOX, Disney, ABC, Saban, and Universal. She has been a TV staff writer for Disney’s Power Rangers, sold several screenplays and been hired to write scripts for many Hollywood production companies.
Universal brought her original script The Perfect Man that was released in theaters in June 2005 starring Hilary Duff, Heather Locklear and Chris Noth. Katie wrote and directed the feature film Truth About Kerry shot in Ireland starring Stana Katic (Quantum of Solace / Star of ABC's Castle.) It recently won Best Screenplay at the 2010 LA FEMME Film Festival in Hollywood which showcases emerging female filmmakers. It will be in theaters in 2011. Katie also wrote the Bollywood movie On The Other Side, which won several film festival awards.
Katie has written a memoir titled JUST BREATHE which is about her walking away from her marriage and life in Hollywood, working with a famous NY Life Coach and losing 130 pounds. It will be in bookstores in 2011. She is currently working on numerous TV and Film projects. Katie is also a children's advocate who has launched THE JUST BREATHE FOUNDATION, an organization that is fighting to stop the worldwide epidemic of Poverty, Abuse and Neglect (P.A.N.) of children.
